I had to keep reminding them I'd booked online, especially at breakfast as those who hadn't used hoian-hotels had to pay for their meal.
This put a bit of a dampener on my stay, as I had hoped for Hoi An to be a relaxing two days in between the hectic Saigon and Hanoi. Still, the hotel itself wasd very nice and had everything I needed, including a cheap mini bar and excellent A/C."

Breakfast was enjoyable in the small space in the reception
area but good for meeting other people.
Many thanks for taking care of us

We knew it was only a 1* hotel however it makes us so angry that they can get away with false advertising!
Other problems included the wifi. We needed the wifi yet it only worked for about 10 hours out of our 3 night stay there. Breakfast took over 35 minutes each morning to arrive (they 'forgot' to make it or the breakfast cook arrived half an hour after our order was placed!) Our laundry came back damp and missing 3 items (which were later 'found'). On our day of departure they could not open the safe to return our valuable belongings and we had to wait over half an hour, making us late for our cooking class yet not one member of staff apologised for this. The air con runs on a separate circuit and they always forgot to switch it back on when we returned to the hotel so we had to go back down and ask them continually.
Finally, the hotel is advertised as being in the 'centre of the old town' but this doesn't mean the centre of the old town as far as tourist sights are concerned. It is a good 15 minute walk to the water front and the Japanese bridge. We did not look at a map before booking but it is obvious that it is just off the last road out of town!
The only plus points I can think of for this hotel are that it is quiet and not a noisy boozing back packer hotel and there is a good choice for breakfast – but you will have to be patient!
Hoi An is full of beautiful little hotels that are the same price further into the main town (we checked a few out!) so there is no need to stay at Hoa My at all."

The staff were absolutely lovely and even helped us when we had trouble booking a flight back to Saigon. We loved our whole experience and are planning another trip to Hoi An and Hoa My Hotel :)"
